Therapeutic Swedish is also known as circulatory massage. This traditional massage relaxes tight muscles, calms the nervous system, increases oxygen and blood flow, thus releasing cellular waste from the muscles. Strokes are directed toward the heart. Techniques include a combination of smooth gliding strokes, kneading, friction, rolling, and tapping, with the use of lotion or cream. It is both relaxing and restorative while promoting health and well-being.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is subtle, yet profoundly deep work. The focus is on the Cranioscacral system (CSS)- the membrane and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. By using a soft touch to the client’s skull, face, spine, and pelvis a practitioner releases restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. This calms the nervous system, naturally relieves pain and stress, and strengthens the immune system to improve your resistance to disease.
Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure to both muscle (myo) and the surrounding connective tissue (fascia). Each Myofascial Release session is performed directly on the skin without the use of oils or creams. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia. Myofascial Release allows for greater range of motion and a reduction of pain by allowing blood, lymph, and nerve receptors to work more effectively.
Acupressure is based on the concept of life energy which flows through “meridians” in the body. Pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Acupressure may be effective at helping to manage nausea, neck and back pain, tension headaches, and depression among other things.
Integrative Therapy incorporates a variety of modalities tailored to each individual client in order to achieve maximum relaxation and therapeutic relief.
Clothed Bodywork allows individuals who prefer to remain fully clothed to receive bodywork. Many modalities can be modified to accommodate this preference.
